Women living in the Jerusalem area who completed their Niddah (menstruation) days in the middle of a heavy snowstorm received special services from a religious organization to get to their mikveh, or ritual bath.
Ynetnews.com reports that the Taharat Habait organization drove a special patrol jeep that picked up women upon request and drove them to the nearest mikvah.
The Halacha (Jewish Law) strictly forbids postponing the immersion.
The jeep drove through the storm on Thursday and Saturday night in Jerusalem and local communities so that women could still observe the monthly mitzvah.
The organizations top priority is raising awareness to the importance of the family purity mitzvah, stated the organizations chairman, Rabbi Yehezkel Mutzafi. We see it fit to operate even with such serious conditions like rainy weather and heavy snow, so that as many women as possible adhere to purity laws and manage to reach the mikvah in the easiest and most convenient way.
